The Sutton Education Trust has developed a formal Governance structure to assure rigour and accountability right across the Trust. To this end there are two tiers of Governance alongside the schools retaining their own local Governing bodies. It is important to note that the two tiers are not controlling groups but rather their role is to strategically manage the direction of the Trust whilst monitoring standards in all schools within the SET. All schools have signed up to this model of accountability and there is an understanding that working together for the benefit of all children, staff and parents is the aim of the Trust.
There may be times when the Governance groups may allocate resources to different schools, help broker working between different schools or intervene in different schools in order to meet the stated aim. The SET has employed a Director of Learning to help with this, as well as to quality assure the schools and report back to the Governance tiers.

It is important to note that in the Sutton Education Trust, all schools retain complete autonomy and are fully managed by their local Governing Body. The schools work together by co-operating under the direction of the Trust Board whilst ensuring accountability through the Monitoring/Action Board.
