Over the months of May and June this year, all the SET schools took part in their own Marsden Marches. Some schools worked together; Foresters joined with High View and the children marched to each other's school for a well earned rest before returning! Even the reception classes and nurseries took part; marching around playgrounds and fields. The children were given collection buckets and banners by the Royal Marsden as well as making their own posters and flags to wave as they marched. A good time was had by all and an amazing £12,000 was raised in total. Then on Friday 21st June, the head boys and girls from all the schools went to the Royal Marsden to present the cheque from the Sutton Education Trust. The children from Beddington Infants, Culvers House, Dorchester, Foresters, High View, Muschamp and Nonsuch with their teachers and the £12,000 cheque.
This embodies the aims of the Sutton Education Trust - we are stronger when working together! On Monday 20th May, children from all the SET schools were invited by Crystal Palace Premier League football club to come and take part in a festival of football. The children took part in many activities such as passing practice, dribbling practices and shooting but the most exciting for them was to play matches on the actual pitch! Thanks to Crystal Palace for organising this day and being an active partner to the Sutton Education Trust!
As a Trust we are running a two year project which will research greater depth in learning. The aim of the project is to identify and disseminate outstanding practice and improve the provision for greater depth in reading, writing and maths across the SET, increasing consistency of approaches and maximising potential for greater depth in each of the SET schools. Applications to join the project are welcomed from staff in all the schools. please click this link to download a job description and to find out more. The closing date to send in your application is the 23rd April 2019. ![]()
Representatives from all 7 schools meet on Tuesday to begin working on the Early Talk Project. This project is aimed at engaging school and parents for pre-school age children and to help develop communication skills at an early age. This is an exciting project and we look forward to seeing the impact over time!
SET INSET day
On October 19th all the schools came together at the Sapphire Hotel for the 2nd SET INSET day. Chris Jacobs (Director of Learning) gave a keynote speech on the SET's aims and values and where we are going as a group. This was followed by the launch of the new 'Powers' booklets which are to be given to all the children across the 7 schools and used as a way to record their achievements over time. There was then an amazing INSET, heartening, informative and amusing in equal measure on resilience by The Art of Brilliance. What a great way to end the first half of the autumn term. |
